    Hello

It's been a while since I have been here... anyway, to the point.

I keep on finding burried chicken eggs in my garden! Either in pots or in the bedding. Yesterday's find was about the 8th one this year. The egg was burried deep in a pot (I only found it because the pot was infested with dreaded vine weavel and I was throwing it out in the recycle garden bin thing when I noticed the egg). It is now becoming a standing joke with my family and I am convinced someone is playing tricks on me. However, everytime I have found an egg there is no sign of the earth or pots being dug up. It's almost like the egg just suddenly appeared there.

Can anyone shed any light and has anyone here had this before? Could it be a fox or squirrel? How do they carry it without breaking it too? I must point out that I live in Greater London, in a terraced street and I do not know anyone nearby who keeps chickens so where on earth could the culprit be finding the eggs from?

    Thanks :)

Well you'd know if there were chickens near by, you'd hear them.
Interesting dumb joke someone is playing if that is it. I live out in the country close enough to chickens and other animals, never heard of this. And lived on a small farm growing up with chickens.

Any egg in a soil not refrigerator ---sooner or later will rot---and when broken will really stink.
Why do I think that this thread is some joke on all of us to see how many will answer.

Squirrels will take eggs out of a nest box if they get the chance. Also magpies and crows although not heard of them burying them (squirrels might - they bury nuts after all).

Are you sure you don't have neighbours with chickens? Most of the time they're pretty quiet and you might not be aware of them.
