The day dawned bright and with good promise.
Plans made for the 40 odd mile trip to Burton Agnes Hall and Gardens.
With picnic packed, sun hat and glasses on we travelled to.

Home to the Cunliffe-Lister family this Elizabethan house filled with treasures including art, furniture and porcelain collected by our family over five centuries. Lawns and topiary bushes surround the Hall and an award winning walled garden contains a maze, giant games, a jungle garden and more than four thousand plant species.
    Thanks to http://www.burtonagnes.com/index.asp for info.

This was the first time I have came across a Potager of flowers, vegatables and herbs.
My kind of gardening and we were very impressed by the changes it generated in our senses as we discovered little themed sections, into a scented garden directly into the jungle and then into the maze.
That was a first for me. I have to admit I can never recall walking a maze before.
Anyway at £3:50 for us oldies and very good few hours was spent wandering the grounds.
Also noticed that every plant was labelled with large readable latin names. Didn`t help me much but I`m trying.

    enjoy

Some really good photos there Robert, those pink coloured plants are stunning. Out of interest do you remember what that pink plant is called (5th from last with your hand at the bottom)?

    Check out this name John.
Needs checking because there was so many labels I may have picked the wrong one..
It was a large bushy plant maybe 3 metres, I was pulling this branch down to get a nice picture. It sure is an eye catcher

Thanks Robert but I don't think thats the label for that plant, I googled "saccharum ravennhe" and its Pampas Grass - unless there is a pink flowered variety?
