    Whats a good green large cactus that will survive outside in Bolton, East facing please.

    Could try Opuntia (prickly pear). Would need very, very well drained soil and good overhead shelter, carport or verandah for example from the rain especially autumn, winter and spring. Not sure about the East facing.
    Kew grow them outside the Princess of Wales Conservatory under the overhang from greenhouse, in what looks to be gritty sand.
