Campsis " Indian Summer"

When you can get a plant like this why do people grow climbing roses?
Just joking, but it is a good alternative.

 

Is that a wasp I see,or just a busy honey bee?

Quite like one to grow up a dead elm tree I may have!!

 

Doesn't set much seed in this country, and its a hybrid anyway so probably wouldn't be worth it.
I dont think its a wasp or bee, think its a dead flower :D

 

Does it have a resonable flowering period Pete?

 

I think the answer to that is no, but then the flowers are up under the eves of the house, and it difficult to get close to.
I took the pic. out of the bedroom window and zoooomed in.

 

Hans just spotted your post, Yes, it blooms from about 2 weeks ago and I expect it to go on into september, but it will probably peak in the next couple of weeks.

 

Just had another look and I can see your wasp Paladin, hadn't noticed it before :rolleyes:

 

That's the way they work Pete, you got to watch out for the little prickers :D

 

my Campsis has been in bud since mid July and now flowering but it's a different colour to yours, Pete...mine is the Campsis radicans, deep vermillion colour...and goes on till Dec, if we don't get a hard frost before then.
