Can anyone ID this tree

    This tree started to grow in my garden on a steep bank. I potted it a good few months back in winter and and thankfully it seems to be doing well. Can anyone tell me what it is?

    Hi not sure but looks very Spruce like to me with plenty of new growth nodules.. :scratch:

      Pines have needles in bundles of 2, 3 or 5 and they are usually longer.

          It's not a Scots Pine, the growth is quite distinctive compared to others.

            The strong crown on the main stem suggests to me it's Norway Spruce.

              I had looked at some pics of Norway Spruce saplings online and they looked very similar to what I found.

              I'll have to think carefully where I plant it, the can grow to 30m tall.

                Yes Pete, when the pollen drops it's like a cloud of dust. The Scots pine carries both male and female parts. Sadly I had to have the tree felled last Autumn as it was leaning badly. :sad:
