    Hello all

    I hope you are well.

I have just been doing some more weeding and came across this:

    2020-05-30 15.58.17.jpg

It was growing close to the fence and I have no idea what it is.

The roots were long and deep from what I could tell, unfortunately, I was not able to get all the roots out.

It was situated behind where a Mock Orange and a Lilac were before I had them removed, could it be a sprout from either of those?

I know it may be unlikely but can it be identified from the above picture?

    Thanks in advance

    Kevin

    @Kevin Cowans
I don't think it's mock orange or a lilac as the leaves are wrong shape, texture. and growth pattern. They tend to push up as a minature plant. Your photo looks more like a shoot from a bulb of some form.
Sorry I can't be more help.
Both lilac and mock porange can and do reshoot after you think you have got them out.

    Hello @NigelJ

    Thanks for the reply.

I did think that it was a bulb of some sort at first but it seems to go down a long way.

Do you think I can rule out any troublesome plants, Bindweed for example?

Also, when I had the large shrubs removed I had the roots and stumps ground out so hopefully nothing should regrow from them, but never say never.

    Thanks

    Kevin

      Hello @Silver surfer

      Thanks for the reply.

Do 'Convallaria majalis' really spread their roots deep as I could not find the end of them?

Any suggestions how to get rid of them?

      Thanks in advance

      Kevin

I know Lily of the Valley can be invasive...crawl under paths etc.
But never tried to remove it.
Can only suggest you keep removing leaves...forget about the roots.
By continually removing all leaves it should weaken it/kill it.
      Keep us posted.

      Hello @Silver surfer

      Thanks for the reply.

Since your previous reply I have done some reading on removing 'Lily of the Valley' and the recurring advice seems to be Glyphosate.

I will wait until I get more leaves growing and will then spray them, hopefully that will work.

      Thanks

      Kevin

Such a shame:sad: - it's one of my favourite flowers. The scent is beautiful and delicate like the perfect white flowers.

      Hello @alana

      Thanks for the reply.

I agree, it was also one of my Mums favourites.

Unfortunately, it is located behind a couple of new Shrubs where it will just cause issues, if I could relocate it I would but that is not possible.

      Sorry

      Kevin
