Hi, I'm new to the forum and relatively new to gardening.

I was out walking when I saw this in someones garden and took a photo in the hope that someone could identify it for me, none of my friends know what it's called so I thought I'd ask in here.

    Thanks in advance

Hi Jimbo2 and welcome to GC.

I would have said Chaenomeles also woo. However, not sure if it's the Japonica, Speciosa or Superba as some of them are very similar.

    It's lovely, whatever it is.

    Hi again,
Thanks to you all for your help, even Clueless who confirmed my suspicion that it might be a flower:-), never mind lollipop, it's close, but it's not right:-).
Having looked in my books and online I agree that it probably is a Chaenomeles, thanks to Victoria, Wiseoldowl and Marley Farley for that, I think that speciosa looks the nearest to it even though not an exact match in colour.

    Thanks again.
