This generation seems to live in a world now of 'give them everything, deny them nothing' credit card life.

if she's got 1500 quid and she wants to spend it on her kids then that's up to her. The way she has swamped the tree looks ridiculous though :roflol:

That's very restrained, you should see the mountain of presents Mrs JWK accumulates and then my face when the credit card bill arrives in January.

I think it's her business, although I would be worried more for her than the kids, as she'll have to match it year on year now as the kids will now take that to be the norm. If she doesn't match it next year, her kids will be disappointed at least, or full of spiteful spoilt wrath at worst.

People can do what they want with their money and their kids etc

Personally it wouldnt be how i would do things. For me that is far too many presents and is unnecessary. In our family you get more gifts or a more expensive gift on your birthday and xmas is just little things unless someone needs something. So my first thought was what are their birthdays like?

I think it is sensible buying gifts throughout the year and getting them reduced and in sales but for me that is personally far too many.

I do think it looks ridiculous though. What the point of a tree if you cant see it?

I just hope her being in the paper and it being all over facebook doesnt make them a target for theives.

The last few years, my family (all adults now) have agreed that each will spend a maximum of a tenner on each present.

It's not the monetary value of the present that matters but how much thought has gone into choosing it - thats the 'difficult' bit. The kids who receive those presents won't appreciate them - most will probably end up in the cupboard never to see the light of day again.

In the end all that matters is the time you spend with your family/friends over Xmas :).

Willow will correct me if i'm wrong, but I think I filled a huge box full of balloons & wrapped it up for the kids, or did I dream that bit

Be careful reading the daily mail, itgives you cancer. A boffin proved it. He looked for the one thing that links all the things that the daily mail claims cause cancer, and demonstrated conclusively that the common factor was that they were all reported by the daily mail.

When Mrs C and I first got together, one of her presents was a box from a 21" TV, filled with shredded paper and intermingled amongst it were fun-size sweets (Mars, Bounty etc) all individually wrapped. Took her the whole day to unwrap them all
