BTW quoteing rules at me isnt what I asked. What I wanted was reasoning and thankfully pete has answerd me.

    Refno 4:
This isnt flameing its simply asking a question.

Ref 8, I will always speak my mind if I have an issue with something.

Im prepared to let this lie for now but will be keeping an eye on things. Frankly im not intrested in participating in a dictaorship.

I feel my point has now been made and will not be posting any further comment on this particular thread.

    Pro,

I wont delete the thread though ;)

    Whoops ........ I've made a joke .... Please don't ban me mods :D

On a serious note, the Admin and Moderators have a difficult task trying not to take sides with both parties who were both having a go at each other, yes there was defending going on from both sides, and in the defence, there was also some name calling.

Please could any users that don't get on, dont comment on anything to those you dislike.

I use other forums, and if there is anyone I do not get on with, I steer clear, as I feel it drags the whole community into joining sides with one or the other of the said 'angry' people.

I would also ask, as Pete has said, once we try and put a thread to bed (I was the one that locked the thread, as it ws just a thread for arguing in the end), please don't start another, as the arguing then continues in that thread.

We do try our best to moderate your use of the forum very lightly, and even let a few arguments run to a certain extent, but it will reach a point where we cannot let it continue.

I hope this explains a little better from our side of things.

    Nathan.

Yes thanks Nathan. This forum is the better for a bit of very light moderation. The user group alt.rec.gardening is beset by spats, and even worse terrible spam posting. It makes it an unusable format.

My own interest is in gardening, and I have learnt so much here from so many very knowledgeable people as well as the friendships and swapped seeds and cuttings, that I would hate any tiff to spoil it.

Being fairly new to GC I know we all had to agree to a few rules when registering.
Only sensible really to keep things running in a smooth and friendly way and
if some object to that then why did they agree in the first place?

I have been impressed at the amount of gardening information available and have
learned a lot on this forum and found members are always very amiable and helpful.

    ;)

The information here is invaluable, but the friendship here is priceless. We are human, so there is going to be run ins, but this is not a play ground, and biccaring and insulting gets us nowhere and the foundations of this wonderful community crumble. The mods guard our right to all these things in peace, and for this i think we should all thank them, its a hard job to not get paid for! :D

At least I know what "Flaming" is now. I got a smack on the wrist for that and didn't know what I'd done.
I agree with you WM. I belong to sites with no mods and they're really just a place to have a row. [IMG]
