I want to replace my shower hose, the end that screws onto the shower head unscrews easily but the other end won't budge it has been WELL overtightened and to make things even harder it is tapered!!!! How do you unscrew a shiney (chromed) fitting that is tapered, nothing will grip it!!!:wallbanging:

Trying sticking a plaster (band aid) round it first, then you might get some grip. :)

Thanks everyone, though I don't consider myself to be a genius. :) But if anyone's stuck I've got other diy tricks up my sleeve that I've worked out down the years.

Well done Sheal and Val. I put together a flatpack table and chairs last Friday. After much cursing (the instructions were written in Martianspeak) I finally did it! I felt as though I had just conquered Everest. Of course, OH had to find something that wasn't quite right and take everything apart again so he could reassemble. It's a man thing.

Flatpacks are frustrating things, well done Clare. :dbgrtmb: I wouldn't let my OH anywhere near anything, he's hopeless when it come to DIY. :)

I had exactly the same problem as Val and stumbled upon this forum whilst searching for advice. I am delighted to say that the suggestion of using a sticking plaster solved my plumbing dilemma and, as an amateur gardener, finding this website is an added bonus.
                Thank you twice over!
