care of arum lilies in winter

after the frosts got to my arum lily it destroyed the leaves so i cut them back to where the leaves emerged .still getting severe frosts and dont know what to do with it,it looks awful and i dont know if it will survive.
can anyone please help.

 

I assume you are growing the white one in a pond.
If so as long as the plant itself is below ice level the crown of the plant will survive.
The coloured ones are more tender and really should be lifted in winter.

 

the lily is in very moist soil at the bottom of the garden .i cut it back to 8 inches high .stupid of me doing it probably

 

No, my guess is if its the white one, it will probably be OK.

The first year I grew one I thought I'd lost it over winter it disapeared into a disgusting brown mush. I decided to dig it up and there it was hidding six inches below the surface, it not only survived but moved house with me and was nearly 3 feet tall last summer.Clear up the mush and wait for warmed weather you may be suprised.
