Changing my Grammar

    I find it quite amazing how a site / forum can change my grammar. I am privately educated and speak well ... in my opinion ... but I find it quite amazing how a site / forum can change my grammar.

    I am typically not a person who uses bad language .. my worst is whilst I am driving and someone does something totally asinine and I may use the *f* word. However, I have found lately that the most obscure words appear here on GC, ie .... treetreetreetree and even worse today I saw where I used the phrase "I get p*i*ssed* off and it came out that I urinxxxxxing ... this I find disgusting, insulting, embarrassing and totally uncalled for.

    Has anyone else encountered this?

      Victoria, Gardeners Corner has, as I'm sure you know, a Profanity Filter which will turn certain words to "treetreetreetree" automatically and also a secondary Profanity Filter which turned one word into another.

      Personally, when writing a post I try to avoid using words that might not offend me but might offend others. I haven't actually seen the post you're talking about but I am sorry if the secondary filter action offended you.

              Yes Vicky it is the profanity filter that does it.. It considers your word & if any are on the list it enters it's own alternative.. Members are not supposed to bypass the profanity filter, but it happens as you pointed out
              but things do get through from time to time..
              So nothing personal or about your education it is VBullitin doing it's work..
