This is our garden. We moved here in January with only vague memories of how it had looked in the October when we first saw our home. Since then I have enjoyed seeing established plants appear and learning all about them and how to care for them. My grandad was a big lover of his garden and I love the way our garden shares some of the same features (a secret path along the back) and plants too. Childhood memories awoken by old names. Anyway, I digress, onto the photos...
    Last October.

image.jpg End of March after some pruning, tidying and fixing of trellis.
The top left is an arch which was suffering badly from naked legged clematis and rose so I cut both right back.
The bottom right photo was an area behind the arch which was an old tree stump covered with ivy and nettles. We completely dug this out and it's now a flowered with stepping stones across from another path which was a dead end before. Still a work in progress.

image.jpg image.jpg Early April...bottom right of the first pic shows how the aforementioned bed turned out. Violas and pansies were 50p the lot from b&q.

                  And today... image.jpg
Bottom left was previously just an overgrown mess. I have planted the clematis in a deep pit so I can bring it in in winter.
                  image.jpg
Top left is a flower bed which was previously full of bindweed with a falling down wall. Right hand side is the hard pruned archway now and left is our mate Geoff after a haircut. :-)

Now that is a lovely garden, Charlie.:snork: Not many gardens last as long as 50 years and have following generations of family who actually love the garden to care for it and develop it, value it's history and memories and also love gardening. Keep us up to date on your progress. You might even get the urge to turn it into a chaotic cottage style:lunapic 130165696578242 5:

Thank you. I think it is chaotic! :-) well, in my eyes anyway.
We are the second owners of the house since it was built in 1950. Next on my list is an orange honeysuckle and blue/purple roses. :-)

That garden, my friend, is not in the least chaotic.:snork: It has a great design and whoever actually thought of laying it out like that did a great job and knew gardening.:love30::snork:

Gifted jasmine with self seeded foxglove, the 15 ft rose which came form nowhere, obsessed with these regal pelagoniums, and upcycled drawer which is keeping slugs at bay. image.jpg image.jpg
Can anyone tell me what the white one top left is? I found a bunch of them together elsewhere so moved them to what was previously bindweed land and they seem happy. Not sure what the rose is but liked the pic. Geoff the resident llama (and boss) after his haircut.
