Since taking on another 4 hens, ive had to reshuffle my hens in 3 differant coops&runs so they are all happy which means ive ended up with 5 free ranging on the garden as their run isnt too big to lock them in all day.I can cage the flower beds i have already come the spring growth but is there any plants i can grow that they would not eat??:heehee:thanks julie x

      Goldenrod (Solidago). Horseradish. Nettles.

About the only plants I've found to be chicken proof in over 30 years of gardening and poultry keeping.

Wouldn't make much of a bed, but on the other hand, given those three plants it wouldn't take much looking after either would it? :)

I may have just been lucky but for some strange reason my chooks don't touch purple leaved plants...i experimented with a couple of Heucheras ...'purple palace' and a green one both next to each other and the green one is no more but they never touched the other...Same with Sambucus Nigra and dark leaved Astillbes and a black Dahlia....

Don't they instinctively leave poisonous plants alone?
