My locotos from real seeds, sown 12th december, 100% germination IMG_20220101_101550135_HDR.jpg

I also sowed some manzano seeds at the same time from tomato eden, they have not sprouted yet.

Also going to grow aji limon, biquinho, jalapeno m, serano, ring of fire, chilaca, pepperoncini orange. I'll sow those start of February I think

      I don't do superhots anymore,

@Hanglow I have always found it a challenge to get manzano seeds to germinate. I'd love to know how you make out. Please keep us posted.

I grow ring of fire too. I use it for "colour" as I don't let it ripen to red. When I make my breads and things, the green compliments the oranges and reds. And wine jelly with red and green chillies is great for Christmas handouts. :)

I still do mostly super hots as that is what everyone around me likes. I won't eat it but then I've always been pretty blah with my tastes.

Hi, I was given some chilli plants last year from a allotment friend. I didn't get much chance to learn about them and put them in my greenhouse at home (unheated) I got a few chillies from each and used them in cooking but don't think they were at there best because of my lack of care. They have been in there over winter and are still alive. They are in small pots in general compost. They are labelled
          Hot chilli mix
          Biguino yellow
          Chilli serrano
          Zimbabwe black
Any help/advice on what to do with them would be much appreciated.
          Thanks in advance.

I shan't be growing many this year as we are unlikely to sell many (we're not opening the garden this year) but are bound to get some people emailing me for some.

@Jasmine star check your overwintering plants regularly for aphids. They have a habit of harbouring them in the winter. Check under the leaves. :blue thumb:

All I plan to grow this year are a couple of plants of Hungarian Hot Wax.

I sowed my Hungarian Hot Wax today. Hedging my bets, I have some in seed compost under the grow lamps and some in a polythene bag on some wet tissue near the boiler. They can be a bit erratic germinating.

I'm going to try again this year. Last year I left it far too late as it was the first time I'd tried chillies. Sounds like I'd better get my finger out - hopefully get to it over the weekend - I have kept 2 of the Biqino yellow plants from last year and have them in the sunporch so hoping they will be ok. I have some satans kiss seeds from last year to sow (hopefully get them to grow this year). I have ordered some Biqino Red seeds and some cayenne as well.

will see how it goes this year.

I overwintered biquinho red for a couple of years, I found they did fine .

I have started chitting the rest of my chilli seeds today, using wet kitchen towels in bags, heat mat and temp controller.
None of them came up yet, so I'm trying some more with the paper towel method. I am not too bothered though if I can't get them to germinate, I will have far too many plants anyway!

It is approximately two weeks since I sowed a bunch of chillie seeds and this morning I see one tiny little Bhut Jolokia/Ghost Pepper seedling :)

                              We're off!

                                Hello chili-lovers,

I started my 2022 seed list this morning. No superhots this year as I did quite a few in 2021.

                                Hot Peppers
I've decided to plant culinary main-stays like: -
                                Cayenne
                                Jalapeno
                                Birds Eye
                                Serenade (seeds from supermarket fruit)
                                maybe Poblano
                                maybe Hungarian Wax

                                Sweet Peppers
Orange sweet Capsicum (seeds from supermarket fruit)
Red sweet Capsicums (seeds from supermarket fruit)
Yellow sweet Capsicums (seeds from supermarket fruit)
King of the North Capsicum (if I can find a supplier of seed)

                                Tomatoes
                                Maskotka (our favourite tasting tomato)
                                Red Robin
Wacky Tomatoes (see photo of Christmas present below)

I'm sure there will be others but not decided which yet.

I've got to get a mains supply into the new greenhouse first for the hydroponics (for water and air pumps).

Its nice to see the Chillies forum moving again.

Best Regards and may all your seeds germinate!
