Can anyone tell me why the flowers on my three year old clem are mostly green this year instead of the lovely lilac they used to be. It's in a big tub and flowering abundantly but the flowers... oh dear! [IMG]

i think it's more likely to be caused by one of two things.
if the flowers have appeared after an unusually cold spell they will come out green. if the 2nd flush comes out the proper colour then this is the most likely cause.
if however the flowers stay green all through the season then the reason is because of a mycoplasma infection. There is, unfortunately, no cure for this and the plant needs to be dug up and destroyed.

I got this information from Pippa Greenwoods Pests and Diseases book, and this condition is known as "Clematis Green Petal"

I hope it is the former condition
