    Hi Bayleaf

I don't know the right answer LOL

these were in situ at the house I bought about a year ago

the top one looks to be a type of clematis but is compact very floriferous and has redish stems and leaves

the bottom one is prob better to identify in a few weeks when the flowers open but is absolutely covered in yellow flowers with white inners late spring?

I think you are right on both Bayleaf

I haven't seen the flowers for a year (and that was the first time) so could well be white and yellow in fact I think I remember thinking they look like small fried eggs!

I'll put up another pic in a couple of weeks and see which it looks like then

    Cheers

    Steve

The first is definately Clematis Montana rubens in my opinion, I have it going mad in my garden at the moment. No idea what the second one is sorry.

The first one is either a Clematis Montana Rubens or Elizabeth
    The second is a cistus
