    Hello to all

I've recently bought a "cycas revoluta" and am quite proud of it...
I know this is a tropical plant and doesn't like the cold but the the garden centre where I bought it told me that it can be put outside from about april to october as long as it doesn't freeze at night.
I live in Brussels and for the last month at least the weather has been quite warm, so my cycas has been out on the patio in more or less full sun. I was also told it needed quite regular watering...
Anyway I've just started to notice the odd yellow spots or the odd 'needle" turning yellow and I am worried.
I'd like to act quickly before it's too late !
What am I doing wrong ?
    Anyone help ?

Look forward to hearing from you

    Thanks !

more indoor and pot plants are killed by over-watering than anything else.

tap the pot, if it rings it is dry, if it sounds solid it is to wet.

If it feels heavy it is too wet.

#push a stick into the soil, if it comes up wet it is wet.

Its all a bit like testing a cake or a loaf of bread

I guess its one of those very dark green examples that are often for sale, how they get them that green is beyond me.

Its probably been grown under glass and it needs to aclimatise slowly to out doors.

Also let it dry out slightly before watering, if it feels damp under the surface, dont water.
Nitrogen feeds are reputed to be good at this time of year in order to bring on a flush of new fronds later in the summer.

    Yes you're right it's dark green.. !
Maybe I've been a bit OTT on the watering since I was told that it needed to be well watered... As I said before it's only in a few spots that the yellow is appearing so hopefully I've caught it time... So I'll let it dry out a bit and see if it improves...
It has only been outside for weeks (since I bought it) so I guess it must be a it of a shock to the system if it has indeed been grown under glass...
Thanks for your input,I'll keep you posted ....
    Cheers...

Sorry to tag onto then end of your thread but my cycad is yellow too!
I have kept it indoors over the winter and barely watered it.

Someone told me that a good water and spray with epsom salts would do the trick...which i did............no improvement so far!
