My Cycas revoluta (Sago Palm) surprised me last night when I suddenly noticed it's shooting up another set of fronds ....

Unfortunately, it looks like I'll have to remove the fronds from two years ago ... last year's look nice and healthy though. [IMG]

Ah, pete, t'other half said this evening whilst we were up on deck where Cy lives ... "you can't move it now because someone on GC said you can't"! :D

I haven't moved it since you made that comment last year! [IMG] Last year's are lovely and healthy looking.

Do I need to remove those fronds from when I bought it which look pretty awful ... I would assume it's like working with palm fronds?

You dont NEED to, but if they are nearly dead it wont hurt.

Notice, pete, mine lives in a builder's bucket! I've been doing this with lots of plants lately, palms, rubber plants, etc. They seem better than clay pots which are cheap as whotsit here. However, the one the Cycad is in cost 99c (65p). I have several plants in them and choose different coloured handles. T'other half drills drainage holes in them.

The huge ones cost about a quid!

Maybe a thought for there if this is cheaper than pots?

I hae removed all the old leaves now as they looked tatty in comparison so I'm left with my new growth from last year and this! :D
