Just bought a house with gardens at front and rear. The lawn was not exactly to Crown Green Bowling standards when we took occupoancy but it was vastly better the the dandelion encrusted scene from Watership Down it has now become. Please could someone tell me what's best for getting rid of these tenacious little *****.

    A) remove the flowers before they self seed b) with a knife, remove the totality of the long tap root, or c) spray with round up once every two weeks into the hear of the plant.

Dandelions whilst smashing plants in flower, and salad leaves - have delusions of grandeur :D

there is a weedkiller you can paint onto the leaves it does take a long time but it would be better than spraying it would kill to much grass which i found out by bitter experience you do not need to paint all leaves just a few on each plant :D :D
