I defrosted a pork joint two days ago but cooking it has been delayed and it's been in the fridge since. Do you think it will still be okay to roast tomorrow evening please, or is it risky?

Hi Sheal, I've defrosted pork on a friday and cooked it on a sunday and ir's been good. I think it should be fine. Don't forget you can get aged meat anyway. I presume you've kept it covered, I use clingfilm. It's only dodgy if the air has got ti it.

Hi you should be ok unless it was frozen on or beyond the use by date
the smell test is most reliable if it smells wiffy and the smell gets up your nose without putting it up to your face well i am sorry its past redemption remember with all meats if it stinks dont risk it if it smells ok then its ok to cook and eat it also when you cook it cook it thoroughly

In the fridge gives you lots of time. I'll not worry about refrigerated meat for 5 days. Then it's dicey.

It's not like you're leaving it in a propagater :)

You'd be able to smell any decay right off. Gardeners have the nose :)

Thanks all! :dbgrtmb: It smelled and looked okay so I've cooked it this evening but won't be eating it until tomorrow, so if I'm not here in the evening you can take it the meat was off.

:lunapic 130165696578242 5: Well I didn't see any @pete but they've probably been cremated anyway, I think I've overcooked it. :doh:The oven I've adopted here is rather harsh and I've still not got used to temperatures and times. Oh well, if it's too tough I'll feed it to the birds when I've sawed it up.
