Can someone, who has grown both, give me a definitive answer to the difference between Non-Stop and Double Begonias?

    TIA.

      Sorry, can't help you :noidea:.

The only non-stop that I know of is the slow train that is supposed to stop at our local station - but doesn't!!! :mute:

From what I reckon nothing, Non stop begonia are normally doubles anyway. It may refer to flowering but all bedding begonia seem to flower nonstop until the frost gets them anyway.

That's why I'm asking as I too can see no difference.
I'm growing both this year as an experiment.

I'm thinking "Non stop" actually refers to a strain that has been bred by plants breeders, whereas "double" is a term that refers to the flowering habit, ie. it has double flowers.

I might be wrong but in my memories growing double begonias, the plants grow those large doubles but also single female flowers.

That said, bedding begonias have come a long way in recent years especially the tuberous kinds, and you probably cant go wrong with any of the modern types, they just go on for the whole summer, and into Autumn.

So are we saying the non-stop strain have no, or less, female flowers?

I'm not sure, I think they all have female flowers, but the profusion of flowers in a bedding display means you dont actually notice unless you look very closely

As I say, I think "nonstop"is just a breeders name for that strain.

Found this but you have probably already found it, the word "series" suggests its just a strain of double begonia.
