    Hi these have just appeared over the last couple of days and I have no idea what they are and can't find reference to them in any of my books

    1st one looks like a magnolia to me.

    That's what I thought Bex, I have a magnolia tree and it tends to flower in spring so this one has confused me, the leaves are very different too

        The first one is an evergreen Magnolia - Magnolia Grandiflora.

            No. 2. Cotinus, common name Smoke bush, cuz when you look at it from a distance it looks hazy like plumes of smoke. If you're lucky it will be one if the ones that in autumn gets a lovely red/purple colour foliage.

              Thank you at merleworld that's really interesting I will look it up on the internet and have a good read as I think it needs a little bit of work on it next spring :dbgrtmb:

                Thanks Anthony.................Bush.... its a big tree :heehee:

                I do remember last year that it did change colour and all through winter It shed lots of mid size tumbleweeds that made the garden look like a spaghetti cowboy film set.
