I seem to remember scientists warning us years ago that this might happen. It seems the jet stream is busted, so we'll have to get used to more horrible weather.

I think this will affect garden planning a bit. No point get upset about it, we'll just have to do as we always do, work with what we've got I guess.

The Gulf Stream switched off twice last year too.

If that goes we can all look forward to winters like Moscow.

Well, I'm only here because I failed in all my attempts to convince the missus that we should move to somewhere in the med region. She hates the cold, most of our mates that we moved back for have since moved away, and as I've pointed out to her several times, a flight from the med region to the UK is only 2 or 3 hours.

The penny is in the air at the moment, time it drops then it'll be too late to evacuate the uk

Our water pipes are 18 inches deep. Moscow's are seven feet deep.

Our infrastructure will grind to a halt. We're just not set up to cope with a climate like that.

Honestly do we really think the scientists can predict the weather in the future further than about 3 days!? Hmm was it not only a few months ago that the doom merchants were banging on that the UK was going to have the winter from hell with record low temperatures? WELL living in the frozen North ie Scotland this so far has been the mildest winter in years. We've had hardly any snow other than a storm last night which had melted by this am and my hose pipe has only been frozen for 2 days all winter (use it everyday), normally frozen numerous times and for long periods most winters. I looked at the temperatures for my area over the last 75 years, we've experienced very mild winters like this 1 and extremely cold ones too so not convinced things are so very different than how things have always been, ie changeable.

clueless, I have a number of friends that live in the Med area and quite a few of them are thinking of coming back home (except for those who would be arrested when they set foot on Blighty :heehee:)! They've found that they've been getting excessively hot summers and wet winters. You forgot about the time it takes to get to and from the airports and the time spent in the airports - which takes much longer than the flight  :heehee:.

You need to move to southern England (but make sure you're not in a low lying area) such as Shineyland :dancy:.

Given that last summer was one of the better ones we have had for a long time (not too hot, but warm enough, and mostly dry), and this winter has been wet and wild, yet mild, I see no reason why we couldn't learn and build infrastructure to cope.

I still have radishes growing in the garden that were sown back in September - so there might be some benefits to it?
