DVLA SCAM

I got this email today.

Vehicle transaction number : 66897-5624664

Your latest vehicle tax payment failed.

It appears that some of the billing details associated with you might have expired or were otherwise charged.

Our system will automatically retry the billing process once your billing details have been updated.

It can take up to 5 working days for the records to update.

Please Note: If you dont pay your vehicle tax on time you can be fined up to 3500 £, or your details passed to a debit collection agency

Apart from not owing anything there are a number of points to look out for.
The originating email address is from Belgium
There are some other wrong things and I've highlighted three of them.

Watch out for scams purporting to come from the DVLA and HMRC as there are a lot of them about.

Response from the government after reporting it:-
Thank you for forwarding a suspicious message to us. Timely alerts from people like you help us to act quickly and protect many more people from being affected.

As of 31st May 2021, we have received more than 6,100,000 such reports, allowing us to remove more than 45,000 scams and take down 90,000 malicious URLs.

We are unable to inform you of the outcome of our review, but we can confirm that we do act upon every message received.

We will analyse the content of the email you have sent to us and any websites it links to. If we discover activity that we believe to be malicious, we may:

• seek to block the address the email came from, so it can no longer send emails
• work with website hosting companies to remove links to malicious websites
• raise awareness of commonly reported suspicious emails and methods used with the help of our partners
