    Hi

We are wanting a really low edging hedge around the border at the front of our house. We planted boxus last week but it really smells of cat wee to me which is the last thing I want to smell as I open my front door!! We are going to move this to another part of the garden where the smell will be less of an issue but would still like to create that effect in the front. The house is georgian in style and we were thinking if putting lavender and rose in the border itself. I've read that box honeysuckle is quite good for dwarf hedges. Does anyone else have any recommendations?

    Many thanks

    Hi :sign0016:
Ilex crenata , looks similar to box but is a member of the holly family but doesn't have sharp leaves, big plus it doesn't get "box blight" easily clipped into shape and maximum two clips a year, would be my choice and match into your house style. Also used to make "cloud trees"

Can be kept very low in height with no baldy patches at the base or left to grow higher , but is very slow growing and more expensive to buy than other hedging plants
