I'm on the T&M website choosing next years veg seeds and would like to grow some early carrots and some maincrop carrots (if that's even possible?).

What is the earliest carrot you have tried? I've grown 'Resistafly' previously which T&M say has good early vigour but I didn't think they were that quick and assumed there must be much earlier varieties than that.

    Any help appreciated! :fingers crossed:

I've usually grown Early Nantes 2...Even early sowings at the beginning of March under cloches I still have a job getting a decent sized carrot before mid July although they are very nice when small.

I hate it when you can't get a decent sized Carrot before July

      I use early Nantes 2 too :)

But I quite like the Stump rooted ones too:)

I might try them then, thank you. So sowing an very early and maincrop carrot (in two separate plots) is a possibility or just wishful thinking?
