There have been several, but nothing very major. I remember there being one centred in the bit between the coast and the isle of man a few years back, when we were in Liverpool - just shook a few things on the mantelpiece.
Hope nothing major fell off shelves with you, Gogs?

Lo-o-ong history of quakes in this country. I can remember reports in the newspapers and on the wireless when I was - ooh, let me see - well, very young!! ('wireless' may have let me down!!)

I remember in late 1950's when we had just moved into this house, I was preparing dinner when for no apparent reason a saucepan lid fell off the shelf. Really surprising - wondered if is was a poltergeist [IMG]
then heard later in the day there had been and earth tremor!

    Like your crows MD :D

Tremors are fairly common as the ground occasionally settles down along a fault line. We had one a few years back but i missed it cause I was driving the car down the road. My wife , just minutes before i walked in, had noticed all the ornaments rattling. I would doubt if there is any damage. On the Richter scale an increase of 1 on the scale means an increase of 10 in terms of the intensity. so a 3.5 is about 1/5000th that of a 7 which is what they get in California when the bridges get damaged. Just imagine what a 9 would do which is 100 times more powerful than that - i think they might have had one of those in Alaska once.

Yes we have plenty of tremors here,in the 1970's we had one i remember my brother was balancing on a chair at the time and he fell off,it was really funny the chair moved onto two legs. We also get lots and lots of tornados we have the perfect climate for them it's just that they aren't always as big as the twisters in america and because we don't "build" hoses out of timber and aluminium sheeting,so the damage we get is only minor in comparison, we had a twister last year that frightened the horses and threw a few bales of hay about but then it subsided.
