I have grown my beautiful edgeworthia in a very large pot for the past two years. On inspecting the condition of the soil I noticed a large amount of cotton like threads amongst the soil. It seems to be everywhere. Any advice please as I don't want to lose this beautiful plant.

    Is it white threads?
Often if you have compost with a high amount of organic matter in it you get fungal growth in the compost.
    Its not usually a problem.

Thank you. The threads are light brown in colour. If you can view the picture I posted, you can see. So I needn't do anything then?

They actually look like surface roots to me.

Agree with @pete - they look as though surface soil has washed away exposing the roots. Do you topdress it to refresh the soil each year @Jo Williams ?
