How many of you are going to vote?

I was going to vote but I haven't been able to find out anything about the policies of the local candidates.

We have two elections here, one is for County Councillor and the other is for Police commissioner. Nothing has come through our door, nothing in the local papers and nothing on the local authority website apart from their names and political party. Not a word on policy! :rolleyespink:

So, after I have opened up the Polling Station I'm going home without having voted. First time ever.

I'll probably not bother, we have police commissioner, Kent county councilors and Borough councilors.
They all seem to be campaigning via Facebook.

But cant see that any of them will change things.

All 3 Party's candidates have been round knocking on the door to ask if we will vote, plus lots of bumph through the letterbox. I've already sent my postal vote. Mrs JWK isn't registered for the postal vote and won't be able to go to the polling station as she is self isolating.

Think it will be a very low turnout, good chance for the looney parties?

I have never had anything put through my door regarding candidates or policies, they might as well just put eeny, meeny, miny, moe on the poll card.

Can you not ask them what their policies are via social media? That seems to be the current method.

Yes :blue thumb: @JWK :love30: :heehee:

Thanks but these are the wrong council :rolleyespink: (police is correct). We are in the stupid situation of not being in the voting district of any of the four places mentioned in our address. We are not in the same county as in our address, nor the town in our address, nor the village in our address, nor the town in the name of our road or even the parish in our address!!! To get to our parish church I have to drive through another parish. Although I'm in charge of the building that is used for the Polling Station , one mile from me, I have to travel to another Polling Station to vote.

Both the parish boundary and the district council boundary run through Shineyland . To get to the town that is the head office of our district council I have to drive through two other district councils and one other county. My MP is not the one for our village or even for the town of our district council!

                      Signed,
                      Confused

@JWK I'll PM you with the correct details for the area that they say I have to vote for if you would be so kind as to give me the info. :)

Miss Jiff & me are not voting, our MP hasn't done anything for the county that i can put a finger on, the police haven't got any better, I joined Twitter to air my veiws about things and they don't even reply to you if say anything or sound negative, but if you put up something positive they reposond thinking the sun shine out the basckside so not worth voting for and there is a lot of air pie and windy pudding about from all that want to get in

The main issue around here seems to be the amount of house building going on on greenfield sites with no real amenities, no new roads and basically just the eating up of the countryside in order to house mostly people moving out of London.

The roads are totally jammed all the time, no such thing as rush hour anymore, its like it all day now.
All the people standing for the local election, KCC and MBC all say its out of their hands and down to central government, so what is the point.

None of them seem to be able to do much other than fiddle with council tax and moan about the fact they cant afford to supply local services.

Not bothering to go as it is a complete waste of time. Sure, you might see a change of face, but all the civil servants that actually make the decisions are still the same and regardless of any promises given before elections you end up getting the same old, same old anyway.

Most parties/candidates haven't even bothered to canvass or post any information, and they can't have missed me as I am always in. Not a clue who is standing for PCC either - no information has been sent/given. There is zero impetus for any of them to be fair - this area is so dyed in the wool Tory I am surprised the grass isn't blue, so why would they feel like they have to do anything to win votes? Why would the others even bother as they know they are not going to get in? The whole thing is a charade.

Blimey that is confusing, I was going round in circles as I knew your address from the Open Days but couldn't even work out which county you are supposed to vote in! It's like shineyland is a detached island, must be something to do with the Anglo Saxons :)

I've had 3 of the same leaflets from the Green Party posted in my letter box. Good luck with saving the Trees.
