This advice was given (spelling theirs, not mine), well it is meaningless to this non computer literate type.
"Delete the cashe or force a browser refresh and the problem may resolve itself."
Explanation anyone, in words of one syllabub!
    TIA.

and this is how to force a browser refresh, aparantly!!!!

The trick to reloading the page is to force the browser to not look into the cache, but rather to again make a connection to the Web and bring up the document from the server. Most people know it can be done by hand by holding the shift key and clicking the "Refresh" (on IE) or "Reload" (on Navigator) buttons. If you didn't know...now you do.

Don't know if this is of any help or relevance but you can set the number of days that your PC retains cached internet pages.
The main purpose of the cache is to speed up browsing as fetching an unchanged page from cache is a bit faster than downloading an unchanged page. Your PC does a very quick check on the online page without downloading and compares it with the cached page if they are the same it loads from cache.
This is probably not so important now that we have very much faster internet access than in the days of dial-up!

Set the cache time from within your browser by going to the TOOLS menu, then INTERNET OPTIONS and then BROWSER HISTORY and you should see a box where you can set the number of days to retain cached files.
This brings up the same screen as GlenW refers to, but I find it an easier route
