Is it a good time now to feed a tired weed infested lawn? The lawn is full of moss and clover and i was planning on scarifying it after feeding with a slow release fertilizer.

I think the warmer it gets the less one should do that - Spring would be best.

If its in really bad nick you could plant to "re-do" it in Autumn. Basically put the blades on the mower to their lowest setting, scalp the lawn to within a millimetre of its life!, spread some top soil or top dressing over the area, and get it nice and level - i.e. fill in any hollows, and remove any highs. (Dragging a ladder with some bricks on it to add weight is a good way of getting it level). Then sow grass seed (usually at about 1/2 the normal rate). The lawn underneath will come through, and you will also have the newly sown grass seedlings.
    That's the theory anyway ...

Weeds and moss are signs of a lawn in poor condition. By all means scarify the lawn which pulls out dead grass and rubbish [thatch] from the grass base which allows air and water to penetrate. Sipe the lawn with a folk at about 4" spaces and give it a 'waggle' afterwards mix 1part peat 3 parts ji number 1 i part river sand and spread onto the lawn. brush into the holes. This will add hu,mus to the soil beneath the lawn and help invigourate the grass.

dig out any larger weeds like dandilion etc. if you have hollows then these can be filled gratdually. Just add JI #1 to the depth of the grass [after mowing] when it has grown through, repeat until filled. If you fill in one go, the grass may die.

Thro' growing season liquid feed with lawn magic using a lawn feeder clipped to a hose pipe. it dilutes as you feed. Pellet feeds can burn the grass if applied when no rain is expected. get both feed and sprayer from

www.superspray.co.uk the grass with come stronger than the weeds and push them out. getting better drainage into the lawn will reduce moss
