I cut down 2 pyracantha 3-4 weeks ago, rather than wrestle them into short pieces to go in the recycling bags, which they rip open with the thorns, I dumped it in my incinerator and pushed it down with the garden fork. This afternoon on a whim I decided to spray it with barbecue fluid and light it, then the phone rang. Next thing I know my doorbell is being blasted, went to answer door thinking "who the b!@@$% he!!s ringing like that, my neighbour from about 50 yards away had seen the smoke and thought the bungalow was on fire , her husband was trying to get over my 8 ft fence, I explained it was an intended burn and thanked them very much for caring. :phew: :imphrt:

Nice to hear you have nice neighbours :dbgrtmb:, Here they would give you some petrol and watch you burn, herd one of our neighbours talking once and this is what they have said about some one else, " I wouldn't even pee on them if they were on fire"

Aww, that is nice that they were concerned, rather have a false alarm, than have to contact a next of kin.
