Out of the first 17, I tried to answer
2,4,5,7,8,14,15,16 and 17

I got 15 wrong. I guess I'll only get 3 points for that one when I locate a Bible and look it up! Still going to think on 1,3,6,9,10, 11,12 13 and 15 before researching!

 

No 9.....✓ Actually have the set.
No 12...✓ Semi knew and semi guessed!!!

Only 21 more to go........now the tough stuff. I do miss Goggling!!!
A bit more brain searching , before hitting a couple of books ( not sure if they will be of any help either ) that I rescued from my parent's place.

Okay, I've done a bit more guessing and one google and I still only got up to 83 points. I didn't try the dailynewspapers or things about politics or there as those weren't published/reported over here.

Got to dash. I've been malingering too long!

I won't go any further as a lot of what's left I've never even heard of and some others are easily found online.
There is ( for me) little reward in just Googling Shiney's questions and up pops the answers.
I have actually Googled all of them ...except two....can't find any link whatsoever.....and now feel a headache coming on.

Newspapers aren't any help Lori to us either over here as there aren't any current questions and as far as I can tell only one political one .... and I for one don't have papers still from 1997!!!!!
So we are all in the same boat!!

I do however love the photo competition as you have to look for really random clues in the ones you don't know ,especially the old black and white pics before even attempting to Google..

Couldn't make a link with what was given to the horses before the race and also the one relating to Frank Sinatra 's song.
