    Oh, found it now.

    Can I make a suggestion.
Can it get one of those blue links from the front page?
Would make it easier to find?

The "problem" is, I think, that Books is a Sub-forum of "General Gardening Discussion" under the main heading "Gardening forums". i.e. Level 3 and the new design only handles 2 levels.

There are other forums in this situation such as the "Tropical ID" forum, under "Tropical gardening", similarly "Cacti and Succulent ID" under "Cacti and Succulents". Maybe others as well

The landscape ratio suits more columns in spreadsheets, and any other system that displays data horizontally.

Of course you can't easily read a long line of text, so websites have had to be changed not to display unlimited width ... so now most websites are like this one, and only use a part of the width of the screen.

The "wide" screens can be mounted vertically (i.e. Windows will be happy to be told that it "narrow and tall" rather than "wide"), which suits people working with wordprocessors (and Gardeners Corner, natch :) ) to be able to see the equivalent of a whole page at once. Techies like me often have two screens, and preferences vary - one square, one wide, or even one wide and the other wide one turned "portrait"

Before I retired and used spreadsheets regularly at work, I'd often get some formulae wrapping onto a third line - I've often wondered if anybody else would be able to follow them after I left because they were so complicated they got me stumped sometimes.

I thought the wide screens were for watching films and stuff from iplayer, etc., so shiney would only be able to watch old movies on his square screen.

        Thanks Scrungee,

I haven't yet caught up to the 1960's movies :heehee: so shouldn't need to bother with wide screen films.

I still clearly remember Saturday morning pictures with Buster Crabbe as Buck Rogers, Roy Rogers (as Roy Rogers :)) and the Cisco Kid played by Duncan Renaldo. Not seen a great deal of films since then!! :snork:

A while ago I posted on Zigs 'Ghosting' thread but think I should have posted here.

I'm experiencing slow down that begins around 8.45pm to 9.30pm, it then seems to clear approx. 10pm. If I log out during this time, which at the moment I do as it's nigh on impossible to move around the site, I then can't log back in if I can raise GC on the internet at all. It's a good 30 to 45 minutes before I can log back in.

I'm having similar problems, Sheal. Also I've had to use a "back door" to get into the Admin side to alert Richard and others.:dunno::runforhills:

The odd thing is Armandii, this was happening on the last server but one as well when it changed from the previous one. It's a pain in the proverbial! :gaah:

I'm not having that problem, Sheal, just the site "hanging" and not being able to get into the Admin side other than a back door.

I have something similar happening but don't let it get that far.

I click on 'Post Reply' and get the usual scrolling in the top right hand corner of the screen. The scrolling doesn't stop and the post doesn't move upwards into the page to show it has been posted (this happens about a quarter of the time).

Instead of clicking again on 'Post Reply' I open the same thread in another tab and see that my post has actually been posted. So I just close both tabs.

This can happen any time of the day or night!

                    Good idea!

If you Right-Click and Open-in-New-Tab on the TIME/DATE of the message above the Reply Box the new tab will scroll to that message, and if yours HAS posted it will be just underneath it .. saves some scrolling perhaps? :)

(Clicking on the Date/Time at the bottom of a message gives you are link to that specific message, useful if you want to give it to someone so they can get directly to that specific post. Its a bit obscure! hence why I mentioned it :) )
