Why not? Then you could smuggle some more seeds to bring back to GC,

That's the long way there - stop off in Hawaii and grab some species Plumeria instead!
I believe that Mucuna bennettii is widely grown in Hawaii too.
There are some lovely Lobelia in Hawaii too - L.niihauensis grows high up the mountains.............

Well, I'm off to St Lucia in January, going to Hotel Chocolat. I could bring back some coco beans for the seed swap?

Jenny - there is a similar Lobelia endemic to St.Lucia called L.santa luciae...........

As you may have guessed, I like Lobelia!

Not sure there is much material on it suitable for cuttings, but I'm definitely going to have a go with some more seeds - if they will set - I expect I'll have to imitate a hummingbird or somesuch!! to pollinate them.

I think I'll also get some seed of a single one, as a contrast.

          Meant to say

I had two seed germinated relatively quickly (April I think), then another in June I think, and a final one in July. Dunno if that is normal, but might be worth hanging on to the seed tray if you get low germination initially.

Trick will be if I can, now, overwinter them successfully!
