The Snakeshead fritilary.... any of the bulb catalogues/web sites willl do them. I don't think they come in any varieties, but naturally occur in the white and purple/white checker forms.

They grow in the wild on moist flood plain meadows, so are happiest when planted in a rich, moist soil, in full sun.

If you're quick it's not really too late to get them this year, but i've also had success getting then]m established from ones 'in the green' in spring.

Be warned, most of, if not all, the bulbs of this sold in Shops and Garden Centres are dead. They really do not like being dried out. Beter to buy them actually growing.

I had success getting them in the green, in spring, and not expensive from Eurobulbs,

You see them on sale in pots in the garden centres in sptring, but they are always really expensive!

That's a good price, Quercus :gnthb:

Just in case anyone scrolling through this thread doesn't know what Snakeshead Fritillaria is - here are a couple of pictures taken in April.

J Parker is doing them 1/2 price I've put some in with my order - obviously I don't know about the quality etc..

50 for £4 and £4 PnP with 6 Scabiosa Perfecta thrown in for free (supposed to be worth £9) they have lots of other offers as well as you probably know from reading my bulb post..

Parkers are generally a very good supplier of bulbs and such. They have a large high quality shrub section too.

Yup - leave them alone to self-seed
