I would thoroughly recomend Frosts at Woburn Sands and Wilmington (Bucks) for plants and service. Their hardware and accessories are a bit pricey - but the plants are excellent in terms of range and quality. They also have the facility to obtain plants on request, which I have found very useful.

there are lots of good ones in the Clyde Valley - some attached to garden centres, and some independent. It's well worth having a day out visiting all of them and asking about nursery / trade accounts - they were all very friendly when I did that. And the garden centres all do nice home-baking and meals!! :D

Reighton Nurseries, between Scarborough and Briddlington, what a shambols, but FANTASTIC value and good new varieties of plants to choose from.

Make sure you come with a trailer!!!!!

I agree about Frosts, lovely garden centre and good healthy plants, we have bought lots over the years.
If you live in the Leicestershire/Rutland area then I really recommend Gates garden centre.
