I've just received some geraniums from the supplier and enclosed with my order were some helpful hints on taking cuttings. Geranium (pelargoniums) cuttings don't like hormone rooting compound, apparently, but they do like to be dunked in a solution of vitamin C. The notes then say you can obtain powdered vitamin C from your chemist ... but there is a word of warning. Vitamin C is used to bulk out cocaine ... so you may get some quizzical looks ...

I have tried that ClaraLou - I can't say that there was any difference between using rooting powder and vitamin C. However Geraniums (Pelargoniums) root very easily. The one thing you musn't do is to cover them, as you would with most other cuttings.

Whilst rooting powder often doesn't help much with cuttings of plants in general, I still use it because it has an antifungal agent in it. Mind you athletes foot powder would do just as well - its also an anti fungal. :D
