Okay so I love Gerbera Daisy. A native South African plant, and being from SA myself I couldn't resist giving them a try. Problem is...I don't really know anything about them

They haven't flowered this year (although I've heard that is normal). I grew them from seed, but they is very tall. Am I supposed to be trimming them at the top to make them more bushy?

 I am a bit puzzled here @Greg C Gerberas usually grow to a max of 12”, however if you are talking about the plant in the brown terracotta pot then no that is not a Gerbera... Not sure but it has the look of a 1st yr Pheasant berry bush... Sorry if I have got this completely wrong..

That is definitely not a Gerbera, and don`t think it`s Leycesteria formosa either @Marley Farley because if my memory serves me right that has opposite leaves and this one has alternate leaves.
Can`t think off the top of my head what it is though.
Daresay @Silver surfer will tell us though :)

Looks like a clump of self seeded Goat Willows to me, or some other common wild tree.

Oh my goodness. Now I want to cry. I grew the gerbera from seed
So weird as I have 2 identical that I planted out from my seedling trays that I propagated them in and they are identical in every way. I even gave one to my sister :snorky:
Now I have no idea what I’ve got on my hands.

Maybe you gave the gerbera away pal, and a sweet little bird dropped a different seed as a special gift for you to reward you for your generosity..... do you wanna borrow my hanky :snorky:

Hahaha. Well I planted a few seeds in the greenhouse. All the plants looked the same - same leaf, same growth rate. So no idea what I got in that packet of seeds lol

:dunno: just one of the joys of gardening that is. Stick with it and you might even produce a banknote tree one day, then we will all be your special friend :wub2:
