I've given up twice now. Once about 10 years ago when I went a full 5 years without so much as touching a cigarette, and then again about 6 months ago.

Its hard work. There will be times when you're tempted to go back to them. There may well be a few tantrums and stormers, but stick at it. You've already done over a week so that proves you can do it.

        You need an incentive Lazydog.
Price up something you want - like a holiday or some other fancy ideal for you and OH.
Draw a chart to the cost and mark up each week how much you have saved towards it.
Be carfeful though - it works better if you ACTUALLY hide the money away and reap the benefit when you achieve the target. Then you set another target. If you give up OH will probably give you a kicking - see another incentive.

Difference between me now and me 6 months ago:

            * Now I can run through the park with my 3 year old son and then climb a tree while giggling like a kid. 6 months ago I could walk through the park and watch my son walk through the park with nobody to play with.

            * Now I can smell all the plants in the garden. 6 months ago I could smell my ashtray.

            * Now I can go for a pint with my non-smoking mates and have a laugh and banter with them. 6 months ago I was always making sure I knew where and when I could go for a smoke.

            * Now I am thinking about what I should be doing to enjoy my life some more. 6 months ago I was thinking about insurance policies and such that would protect my family in the event of my untimely death.

Smoking is nice, but lets face it, its a fools game. If baccy had only been discovered a year ago, it would be illegal by now. Imagine the shops being allowed to sell a narcotic drug that attacks your nervous system, poisons every major organ, fills your arteries with filth that will kill you, makes you stink, takes all your money and makes you a social outcast.

Congratulations on giving up :patpat:!! using the electronic ones is a good idea at least you have something to fall back on if you have any worrying times at all, that is when it is most difficult!!

Keep a lighter and a full pack of cigs, on a shelf somewhere, and tell yourself they are there if you want them YOU WILL NOT WANT

Hope You Keep It Going Lazydog. I know it is very very hard to give up the Weed,I should know as I have been smoking since 12 yrs old. I have Tried Patches,Gum and 2 or 3 other things.I now make my own Cigs and in doing so I have cut back smoking dramatically as by the time I roll one the notion has gone:blue thumb:.
