My Gladiolli are looking great. Tall straight stems and flower heads are there but not open yet. I've given them canes to support the stems but the problem is the flower spikes are kind of curving over. I'd love to have them straight like the professionally grown ones. Any idea how I can do that ?

In a word ... No. I've even (discreetly) tied them to canes when in full flower, but they still manage to bend over.

Just about what I thought, Fidgetsmum. But those professional growers do it. I WANT them tall and straight.
Anybody get their Gladiolli flowers straight ?????

    .

    Hi Alice

I'm afraid to have straight flowers, exhibition standard you would have to tie in the flower spike , very gently, from bottom to top!

It is not worth the hassle, unless you wish to show them!

    Cheers!:flag:

Thank you Makka - Bakka. That's about the conclusion I was coming to.
I don't want to show them, just have them looking great in the garden.
I think I'll tie in a couple and see how that goes then I'll know for next year .
