Gold fish

    Hi we have a garden pond with 10 goldfish in it and wonder how can you tell the sex of a fish and wound they have baby fish..

    Mine breed every year.
    Not sure how you work out what sex they are by looking at them .

    But when they start to spawn it becomes apparent.

    Mine seem to like laying their eggs in floating pond weed, so a good supply of that helps them.

      By floating weed I mean oxygenating plants which tend to not be anchored, but take all their nutrient from the water.

      Mine spawn in June or July.

      See small fish at the end of the season hiding in the weed.

        I think the big fish do eat the small fry, that's where all the weed comes in as well. they tend to hide in the weed until they reach a reasonable size.
        Usually the following year.
