I’m going to be building my own greenhouse. Ive already got a base to sort of start from. But its not going to be rack and shelf type greenhouse, its going to based around this design

So a U shaped base, two long beds will be 1.2mtr long, 600 deep, 600 wide…..the end bed will be 1.7mtrs long, 600 deep and 1mtr wide….

the greenhouse structure will be built out of 3x2 rough cut and 4mm twinwall polycarbonate sheets. 21 sheets in all.

I have the base which i will convert into the above shape and will update as i go along

    Starting point

Some more work on the base structure today. All the inside lined with thick rubble bags and the start of the U shape structure. Hoping to get it finished tomorrow and then i can start on the upper structure for the windows and roof

I got a huge project lined up for the spring, which will need a big chunk of money and energy. So by stopping now i can save the money ready for spring.

Great work  but you must have a good timber supplier ?

Our local ones having a right time getting stock and the prices so fluctuating they have torn up their price lists, even places like B&Q and Wickes timber prices have gone up at least double.

Its cost double the price it should have, but still 1.5k less than buying one ready made for the same size and spec

The cost so far is this

                            20 4x1s @ 2.4mtrs………£84.80
                            30 3x2s @ 3.6mtrs……..£298.80

Windows are 4mm twinwall pollycarbonate…..got 28 of those for £98
The roof is 10mm twinwall pollycarbonate and that will cost £78

so thats not bad for a 2.65mtr x 1.7mtr timber greenhouse, with 2 opening windows on each side and 1 on the end……..and with 3 large internal raised grow beds
