i was advised by my local garden centre to use potting grit when planting up my latest selection of plants (herbs), thing is I can't remember if they said to lay under roots or mix into the compost.
    Help!
I'm due to be planting up this weekend, all plants are ready in anticipation

Mix it with the compost. I think I'm right in saying that herbs (generally) will appreciate good drainage.

Lol I've heard about mint and it's spreading habits

I've got verbena (that's not mint family is it?), oregano, majoram, Rosemary, lavender, bay and two varieties of thyme

Mint just loves it damp, some types grow wild in boggy ground.
