Ground temperature check

    My finger agrees with you Capney, at least two more weeks before it warms up to a do-able temp.

    An old farmworker told me (if the soil feels alright to sit on,it's ok for seeds)

    I always go by the fact that once its warm enough for weed seeds to germinate its warm enough for most hardy seeds.

    My finger says it's now just warm enough to sow, just checking my calibration is right. That is fast warming up and just making sure it isn't just wishful thinking on my part.

    OK Temperatures for the Vale over the last two days are quite changeable.
    Thur/Fri overnight min was 1.5 ground temp at 6.7
    Fri/Sat overnight min of 10.5! ground temp this morning at 8.2

    Today the Vale has hit a ground temperature of that magical 10C today:gnthb:
    10.1C at 13:00 Hrs
    Planting mania has started.:yho:

    My weed seeds have been growing all winter,I think they even thrived on snow and ice,I'm getting at them now but its hard work with all the bulbs in the way.
