Hi there, need some advice regarding growing peppers and chilies indoors. I am looking after same for someone while on they are on holiday.

The plants are looking poorly, and wilted. They are getting enough water and I want to know would putting a lightbox beside them help as I suspect the problem is insufficient light/heat. Can you advise please?

    Hello GMIH
There is more than enough light for chillies at this time of year . If possible get them on the sunniest window in the house and turn them every other day , so they are getting the sun on both sides of the plant . JWK's overwatering point could be the reason , I think I killed one of my jalapenos earlier this year by overwatering.
I understand your feeling of panic , if somebodies pride and joy is dying in your care :phew: They will usually be ready to speak to you again , by the time you are out of hospital :D

    Green man,

Where in the UK are you? People who say there is enough light are wrong (: it really depends on where you are in the UK!! I know for a fact that here (North West, Lancashire) we do not get much sun at all!

Get yourself some 30watt CFL bulbs, they'll perk up your peppers no end!

Well.. Rochdale here, and we've pretty much had 4 days of sunshine in the last 2 weeks.

If you think you can grow peppers or tomatoes without lights, I'd love to see your yields.

    Hi tahsocks
I know you didn't mean that , I was only joking . You are right the sun/light levels have been very poor this year. But only 4 months to next year ,2012 must be a good one :dbgrtmb:
