Thanks for that, John. It really is a nasty beastie, and the more people who are made aware of what to do, and what not to do, the better.:help:

:gaagh:oh damn i wish i had spotted this thread before the granbabies found this beastie on the garden path they came to show my the thing ( by which point said beastie was in a plastic beaker) i am really hoping that they collected it the way they have been taught ie placing jar in front leaving the crawly to walk it self in to the jar rather than picking it up !!!!!!!!!!!

shall no show them an image and tell them is they see another one now not to touch !

If it was the OPM caterpillar, Kaz, the kids were very lucky not to get any of the hairs on them as that's the cause of the problems.:cry3: Hopefully, it was just a hairy caterpillar and the GC's won't be affected, just keep an eye on them:thumbsup:
If it is the OPM then you need to report it to your Council.

      :)Thanks Armandii
      yep i did report it,
[email protected] ( i never thought of council )
after i saw this thread unfortunatly i let the catapillar go in next doors garden ( no tentant though for past 8 months and garden is like a jungle, the GC did as i have taught them (so they tell me ) and placed beaker with leaf infront of caterpillar allowing it to walk in, none of the GC seem to have had any adverse reactions so i am inclined to believe them, all adults that saw it say that they are sure it is OPC just wish we had taken a pic too

You did it all right, Kaz. You have only one problem now, where's there's one there's more:cry3::runhills: Obviously, the biggest danger is to the GC's and any pets, so keep an eye out for anymore. Good Luck:thumbsup:
