This may have been covered before .
I have 1TB hard drive with hundreds of pictures on ,and I never could quite figure out how to transfer at least some to my I Pad if indeed it’s possible
Could someone in plain English explain if this can be done and how.
    Thanks in advance.
I no longer own a laptop.

From your iPad to the hard drive you mean, or the other way round? Either way, I think it’s just a case of using the USB/power lead (that comes with your iPad), connected to both. Then just follow the prompts. Oh, I could be wrong

There is not enough information to be able to suggest a solution.

Please provide details of your hardware:

    1) iPad model number and operating system (iOS) version;
    2) Hard drive model number and whether or not it is a bare drive.

Apple have historically made this much harder than it should be. Later iPads have been updated to make it easier but in honesty I’d go for the cloud. Copy the pics to google photos for example and just access on the ipad

Of course the use of a laptop would solve the problem period.
I was just wondering if it was at all possible to transfer without a laptop or pc.

This might be worth a try.

        You're jumping the gun.

By providing us with the requested details, we can determine what hardware interface is needed for the hard drive for connection purposes.

If it was a bare unit, was it a system pull and did it have an operating system on it? If so, was it Windows with an NTFS filesystem?

Was it run with file encryption (eg BitLocker) set?

There are also file permissions to deal with...

I've heard Apple are sods for stopping you transferring to other devices other than Apple or the other way.

For that reason I'd not buy anything Apple.
Sorry not much help @roders but I'm not that clever anyway.;)

              Thanks.
I suspect you are in cahoots with a certain administrator.

I transferred some pics from my iPad to a laptop, it was easy. It was just a case of connecting the iPad power cable to the laptop. No idea beyond that :dunno:

Yeah I was just basing that statement on something my sister told me when she had stuff on Itunes and moving it to other non Apple devices was causing problems.
