Has anybody here used a line level ?

I think one of those wee plastic spirit levels which hook on to a string-line would be useful when fixing raised beds etc ... at least for the initial stages, to get an overall idea of height difference on my new plot.

At £0.99 for two, with delivery (see link below) they seem worth trying

I have not use them, but what i use is clear plastic tube filled with coloured water

 

Being a builder I've used these a fair bit. If they're to be placed on the line where there is no obstruction they are perfect.

 

And you can go around corners

 

I'm guessing OK for an approximate leveling job.
Never used one but guess it has to be dead centre on the line.
Used a water level years ago, similar to Jiffy's idea, but now laser levels are fairly cheap for basic jobs.
